Poland Honours Honorary Consul General Lokmanya Golchha with Officer’s Cross of Order of Merit

Kathmandu. The Republic of Poland has conferred the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland upon Honorary Consul General Mr. Lokmanya Golchha, recognising his outstanding service and contributions to strengthening Nepal–Poland relations.

The honour was formally presented by H.E. Dr. Piotr Antoni Świtalski, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland to India, during a ceremony held at Hyatt Centric Soalteemode Kathmandu, attended by members of the diplomatic community and distinguished guests.
As Poland does not maintain a resident embassy in Nepal, diplomatic and consular responsibilities for Nepal are overseen by the Polish Embassy in New Delhi. In this role, the embassy continues to assist Polish citizens in Nepal while fostering bilateral cooperation and engagement between the two countries.

The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland is among Poland’s highest civilian honours awarded to foreign nationals. It recognises individuals who have rendered exceptional service to the Polish State and made significant contributions to international cooperation and mutual understanding.
Mr. Golchha’s latest decoration follows his earlier recognition in 2015, when he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland by President Andrzej Duda for his remarkable contribution during Nepal’s devastating earthquake.

The conferment of the Officer’s Cross acknowledges Mr. Golchha’s exemplary leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his long-standing support and assistance to Polish citizens in Nepal.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Świtalski praised Mr. Golchha’s sustained commitment to promoting cooperation and people-to-people ties, noting that his efforts have played a vital role in strengthening bilateral relations.
Accepting the honour, Mr. Golchha expressed gratitude to the Government of Poland, describing the award as a reflection of shared values, humanitarian cooperation, and enduring friendship between Nepal and Poland.

The honour stands as a symbol of continued commitment, humanitarian service, and the deepening partnership between the two nations.
