Malaysian Delegation Reinforces Education Ties with Nepal at “Study in Malaysia” Networking Dinner

Kathmandu, Nepal. A high-level Malaysian delegation comprising senior diplomatic officials and leaders from the education sector participated in the “Study in Malaysia” Networking Dinner held in Kathmandu, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening educational collaboration with Nepal.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Mohd Firdaus Azman, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu, who highlighted Malaysia’s growing stature as a preferred higher education destination for Nepali students. In his address, he emphasized Malaysia’s globally recognized universities, multicultural academic environment, and strong academic–industry linkages that enhance graduate employability.

Also present as a Special Guest, Mr. Azrael bin Syamsul Rizal, Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu, underscored the Embassy’s continued support in promoting educational cooperation and strengthening people-to-people ties between Malaysia and Nepal.
The program featured presentations by representatives from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Mr. Moeen Ahmed, Regional Manager – South Asia (Marketing, Communications & Branding), and Mr. Mohamad Azni, Senior Regional Executive – South Asia, shared insights into Malaysia’s higher education ecosystem, student mobility opportunities, and streamlined student visa processes. They highlighted Malaysia’s strategic position as an affordable, high-quality education hub in Asia.

Providing an academic perspective, Mr. Ahmed Afshan Haneef, Assistant Manager – Student Services and Marketing at Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), Kuala Lumpur, showcased industry-focused programs, innovation-driven learning approaches, and diverse career opportunities available to international students in Malaysia.

The networking dinner brought together education consultants, institutional partners, and key stakeholders from Nepal, creating a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and partnership building. Discussions focused on expanding academic cooperation, increasing student exchange, and enhancing awareness of Malaysia’s diverse higher education offerings.

Organized under the Study in Malaysia initiative, the event reflected Malaysia’s strategic engagement with South Asian markets and its long-term vision to foster sustainable educational partnerships. Participants welcomed the initiative as a timely opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote Malaysia as a trusted destination for higher education among Nepali students.
