Digital Tourism Promotion and AI Training Kicks Off in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The four-day Digital Tourism Promotion and AI Training commenced with an inauguration ceremony held on Mangsir 14. The program is organized by the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and UNDP. A total of 30 participants are taking part in the training, which will conclude on Mangsir 17.

The inauguration program was chaired by Sagar Pandey, President of TAAN, while Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, attended as the Chief Guest. The event was coordinated by Raju Gurung, with Ambir Gurung serving as the Co-Coordinator.

During the opening session, Co-Coordinator Ambir Gurung delivered the welcome remarks, expressing that the training aims to strengthen the digital capacity of tourism professionals and equip them with AI-driven skills for modern tourism promotion.

Distinguished attendees included Ram Prasad Sedhai, CEO of TAAN, and Karma Sherpa, Senior Vice-President of TAAN.

Chair Sagar Pandey (President, TAAN) emphasized that the rapid growth of digital technologies and artificial intelligence has transformed the global tourism landscape. He stated that Nepal must embrace these tools to enhance its international visibility and improve tourism services. He added that TAAN is committed to promoting digital literacy within the tourism sector.

Chief Guest Deepak Raj Joshi (CEO, NTB) highlighted that tourism promotion in the modern era requires strong digital strategies. He stressed that AI-based solutions can significantly expand Nepal’s outreach, improve marketing efficiency, and attract a more diverse range of international visitors.

Ram Prasad Sedhai (CEO, TAAN) remarked that continuous skill enhancement is crucial for Nepal’s trekking and travel industry. He expressed confidence that such training programs will empower participants to integrate digital tools effectively in their respective organizations.

Karma Sherpa (Senior Vice-President, TAAN) stated that digital transformation is no longer optional but a necessity for tourism development. He encouraged tourism entrepreneurs to actively adopt technology-driven approaches to strengthen Nepal’s global tourism presence.

The training program, which continues until Mangsir 17, aims to equip participants with practical knowledge of digital promotion techniques and AI applications to uplift Nepal’s tourism sector in the digital age.
