Kathmandu . The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has elected a new leadership team through its recently concluded election. Phur Gelje Sherpa has been elected as the new President, securing 342 votes, defeating his rival Kul Bahadur Gurung, who received 288 votes.
For the position of Senior Vice-President, Ishwori Paudel won with 345 votes, while Tika Gurung secured 258 votes. Similarly, Mingma Gyabo Sherpa was elected as First Vice-President with 359 votes, defeating Kaji Sherpa, who got 256 votes. The post of Second Vice-President went to Bodh Raj Bhandari, who won with 368 votes against Dhan Bahadur Gurung’s 238 votes.
In the post of General Secretary, Rajendra Bahadur Lama was elected with 318 votes, defeating Bimal Naharki (209) and Shiva Sapkota (68). Chandan Thapa became the new Secretary with 358 votes, while his opponent Ngima Diki Sherpa secured 244 votes.
For the crucial post of Treasurer, the result ended in a tie. Both Ngima Nurbu Sherpa and Sumi Lama received 304 votes each. As per mutual agreement, they will share the position by serving half of the tenure each.
Among the elected Executive Members are: Mulal Gurung (351), Mingma Thupden Sherpa (326), Dendi Sherpa (311), Nisha Bhote (307), Bikram Karki (306), Kedar Nyaupane (302), Rinje Sherpa (301), Devendra Dangol (295), Gokul Thapa (288), Diki Sherpa (288), and Madhav Kumar Dhamala (278).
