Kathmandu . The 7th Inter-School Folk Dance Competition of Kathmandu Valley, organized by the National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (National PABSON), Kathmandu District Committee, concluded today (Bhadra 8) at the Nepal Academy, Kamaladi.
The event was inaugurated by Minister for Youth and Sports, Tejulal Chaudhary, as the chief guest, while National PABSON Central Committee President Subas Nyaupane attended as a special guest. The program was chaired by National PABSON Kathmandu District Committee President Amrit Kumar Khadka, with Tanka Thapa serving as the coordinator.
In his address, Minister Chaudhary emphasized the importance of such competitions in promoting holistic development of students while preserving Nepal’s indigenous language, religion, traditions, and culture. He assured that the government would always support activities that connect the younger generation with their cultural roots.
A total of 51 schools from across the Kathmandu Valley participated, with students presenting traditional Nepali folk dances. The jury evaluated performances based on multiple criteria including choreography, costume, and cultural authenticity.
Neric Academy secured first place, receiving a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 along with a trophy and certificate. Gyan Bhumi High School finished second with Rs. 20,000 and a trophy, while New Malshree School claimed third place, winning Rs. 15,000 and a trophy.
Similarly, Milan Dharmasthali School stood fourth, followed by Brain Heart School (5th), Aastha Vidya Mandir (6th), Green Hills Academy (7th), People’s Secondary School (8th), Mount Glory School (9th), and Green Field National School (10th).
In the individual awards, Khim Magar of Gyan Bhumi Secondary School was honored as the Best Choreographer, while Neric Academy received recognition for Best Costume. All participating schools and students were awarded certificates for their performances.
