Kathmandu. For the first time, Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal Art Council, in collaboration with all four metropolitan cities of Kathmandu Valley, are set to organize the Nepal Art and Culture Festival–2025. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Tourism Board hall on Sunday. The festival will take place from September 5 to September 26 across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kirtipur.

Speaking about the purpose of the event, Nepal Art Council Chairman Sagar Shumsher Rana said that cultural festivals hold great significance not only in Nepal but internationally as well. He highlighted that the festival aims to attract both domestic and international tourists and elevate Nepal’s cultural presence on the global stage.

Similarly, Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board, emphasized that while Nepal is often known as an adventure tourism destination, this festival seeks to present the country as a treasure trove of cultural heritage and traditions. “We must safeguard and promote our unique culture and heritage globally. Such festivals can increase tourist arrivals and contribute to economic growth,” he remarked.

Festival Steering Committee Chief and Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) President Binayak Shah described Nepal as an ideal destination for a “lifetime experience.” He added that the festival, which merges tourism with cultural celebrations, would also promote experimental tourism in the country.

According to Festival Coordinator Ayusha Shrestha, more than 40 events will be organized during the three-week-long celebration, coinciding with the traditional Indra Jatra festival. With the theme “Celebrating Nepal’s Eternal Art, Culture, Cuisine, and Heritage,” the festival will showcase cultural exhibitions, traditional food, art and crafts, music, dance, and living cultural experiences. Organizers say preparations are in the final stage to transform the historic cities of Kathmandu Valley into vibrant hubs of culture and celebration.
