Kathmandu. The KIST Kidney Transplant Center, operating under KIST Medical College and Teaching Hospital, has successfully completed 200 kidney transplants, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s private healthcare sector.
According to the hospital, the center has maintained a success rate comparable to international standards, establishing itself as one of the country’s leading kidney transplant facilities.
Since its establishment, the center has focused on modern technology and quality treatment. With the support of experienced doctors and a skilled technical team, it has consistently delivered positive outcomes.
The center has been performing kidney transplants from living donors. The hospital ensures comprehensive health screening of donors, along with regular post-surgery monitoring to safeguard their well-being.
Additionally, the center has been providing transplant opportunities to patients without matching donors through a “paired exchange” system. This method allows two donor–recipient pairs to exchange kidneys based on compatibility.
Surgeries performed using laparoscopic techniques have benefited donors by reducing pain, minimizing blood loss, and enabling faster recovery.
Reiterating its commitment to delivering quality, safe, and accessible services, the center stated that it aims to expand its services and benefit more patients in the coming days.
