Kathmandu. The Government of India has signed an agreement to support 11 High-Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, focusing on education, health, and waste management sectors.
The agreement was signed today between the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and various project implementing agencies of the Government of Nepal.
According to the Indian Embassy, the projects will be implemented with a total grant assistance of approximately NPR 1.16 billion.
Since 2003, India has implemented 590 HICDPs across Nepal, of which 502 projects—spanning education, health, drinking water, sanitation, connectivity, and public utility infrastructure—have already been completed, while the remaining are in various stages of execution.
These projects cover all seven provinces of Nepal, reflecting the broad and inclusive nature of India–Nepal development cooperation.
As close neighbors with long-standing historical, cultural, and economic ties, India and Nepal continue to strengthen their multi-dimensional partnership through such initiatives. The projects are expected to empower local communities and contribute to the development of critical social infrastructure in priority sectors across Nepal.
