Kathmandu: Scotland-based engineer Rakesh Shah has been making significant contributions to the Nepali and Maithili entertainment industry while pursuing a successful career in engineering. He is the founder of Adarsh Productions and is actively involved as a lyricist and producer.
Born in Lahan, Nepal, Shah earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, India. He later completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Construction Project Management from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, United Kingdom.
Currently working in the construction project management sector in the UK, Shah has successfully combined his professional expertise with his passion for entertainment. Through Adarsh Productions, he has been producing Nepali and Maithili music videos, web series, and feature films.
As a lyricist, Shah has written popular Nepali songs including Ke Timi Malai Maya Garchhau and Kasari Bhanu Timilai. As a producer, he has backed several Nepali music videos such as Nyano Saath, Kasari Bhanu Timilai, Ke Timi Malai Maya Garchhau, and Jane Manchhe Gaihalchha Chhoder. In the Maithili language, he has also produced music videos including Chehra Ya Chandani Gori, Priyatam Ke Haath, Jawani Kaafi, Chalu Apan Desh, and Aaha Ke Chehra.
Shah also serves as the Creative Producer of the Nepali and Maithili web series Aarti. In addition, he is producing the multilingual feature film Prativairam, which is currently under production in Nepali, Maithili, Hindi, and Bhojpuri.
Despite being based in the United Kingdom, Shah remains actively involved in planning, developing, and producing entertainment projects in Nepal. Through Adarsh Productions, he continues to promote original storytelling while collaborating with artists, singers, filmmakers, and creative professionals. His vision is to integrate modern technology and professional project management practices into Nepal’s film and digital content industry, contributing to its growth on the international stage.
