Climbing Route to Mount Ama Dablam Officially Opens for Autumn 2025 After EOA-Nepal Team Reaches Summit

Kathmandu. The climbing route to Mount Ama Dablam (6,812m) has officially opened for the Autumn 2025 mountaineering season after a rope-fixing team from the Expedition Operators Association Nepal (EOA-Nepal) successfully reached the summit. The achievement marks the official start of one of Nepal’s most awaited climbing seasons, drawing international and national climbers eager to scale the iconic Himalayan peak.

According to Rishi Bhandari, General Secretary of EOA-Nepal, the rope-fixing team reached the summit of Mount Ama Dablam today (October 12) at exactly 12:50 p.m. The team’s success ensures that the route is now safe and fully equipped for the numerous expedition groups that have been preparing for their ascent. Their technical expertise and commitment have been pivotal in reopening the route following weeks of preparation and weather monitoring.
The rope-fixing team comprised some of Nepal’s most experienced climbers: Nuru Wangchhu Sherpa (Team Leader), Namgel Dorjee Tamang, Lal Kumar Tamang, Pasang Tenji Sherpa, Ming Norbu Sherpa, Guru Jenjen Bhote, and Pemba Sherpa. Before departing for the Khumbu region, EOA-Nepal organized a special farewell ceremony in Kathmandu to honor and send off the rope-fixing teams for both Mount Ama Dablam (6,812m) and Mount Himlung Himal (7,126m).

According to the Department of Tourism, as of October 12, a total of 171 climbers from 12 expedition teams have obtained permits to climb Mount Ama Dablam this autumn season. Among them, 121 are male and 50 are female climbers representing various countries. The Government of Nepal has already collected NPR 2 crore 42 lakh 34 thousand 50 in royalty revenue from Ama Dablam climbing permits, underscoring the mountain’s popularity and its economic contribution to Nepal’s tourism sector.

The successful rope fixing by the EOA-Nepal team officially opens the route for other climbers, signaling the beginning of a busy and vibrant autumn mountaineering season. Mount Ama Dablam, renowned for its steep faces and striking pyramid shape, remains a dream destination for alpinists worldwide.
