Gorkha. The Manaslu trekking route in northern Gorkha, which had been completely closed since Thursday due to the risk of landslides triggered by heavy snowfall and rainfall, has reopened from today. The announcement was made by Acting Chief District Officer (CDO) Chitrangat Baral.
The district administration has advised trekkers to begin their journey only after gathering all necessary safety information through their trekking guides. “The trekking route has been reopened following the forecast from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology indicating gradual weather improvement,” said Baral.
Santosh Sherchan, Chief of the Manaslu Conservation Area Project Programme in Gorkha, also urged trekkers to remain cautious as certain sections of the trail have been damaged due to the recent weather conditions. He emphasized the importance of checking both trail conditions and weather updates before setting off.
Several tourists headed towards the Manaslu region were forced to turn back in recent days due to heavy snowfall and rain. With the route now reopened, trekking activities in the region are expected to resume cautiously.
