Kathmandu . Tourism Sisterhood Nepal Association, a common platform for women active in Nepal’s tourism sector, has intensified initiatives to increase women’s participation and leadership in the industry.
Established in 2018, the association has been working to enhance the skills of women engaged in tourism while promoting sustainable and responsible tourism practices. Speaking at an event organized in Kathmandu today to mark the association’s seventh anniversary, President Junu Maleku said the organization has been dedicated since its inception to empowering women in tourism.
“Tourism Sisterhood Nepal has been focusing on empowering women in the sector, enhancing their capabilities and contributing to the development of sustainable and responsible tourism,” she said. According to her, the association has consistently worked on leadership development among women working in tourism.
Former President Anupa Budhathoki noted that the association has been providing free training to women to support greater female participation in the tourism industry. She added that the association also offers educational support to underprivileged and economically disadvantaged students pursuing studies in tourism.
Additionally, the association has organized several destination visits to help women understand how they can travel safely across various tourist locations in Nepal. Last year, the group conducted a visit to Rara, producing a documentary of the trip that has since been promoted through social media.
To celebrate its seventh anniversary, the association also conducted a one-hour sound healing session in collaboration with Nimi Wellness Center to promote wellness tourism.
Tourism Sisterhood Nepal currently has around 100 active women members contributing to various aspects of Nepal’s tourism sector.
