Nepal Tourism Board and TikTok Launch Travel Content Creation Workshop to Boost Digital Tourism Promotion

Kathmandu: TikTok, in collaboration with the (NTB), has launched a three-day travel content creation workshop aimed at strengthening Nepal’s digital tourism promotion and empowering local creators, tourism entrepreneurs, trekkers, mountaineers, and tourism businesses with modern storytelling skills.

Organized under the #VisitNepal initiative, the workshop seeks to showcase Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, diverse gastronomy, and world-renowned adventure tourism experiences to global audiences. The program is also designed to help travelers discover both popular tourist attractions and lesser-known destinations across the country through engaging digital content.

The workshop series brings together participants from various sectors of Nepal’s tourism ecosystem to learn best practices in short-form video production, audience engagement, digital storytelling, content strategy, audience growth, brand partnerships, and responsible content creation. TikTok experts will also provide hands-on training to small and medium-sized tourism enterprises, trekking guides, and tourism operators on effectively using the platform to promote their services and reach wider international audiences.

Speaking at the event, Officiating Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, Hikmat Singh Ayer, emphasized the importance of digital innovation in tourism promotion. He said Nepal’s rich culture, pristine natural beauty, unique wildlife, and renowned hospitality must be presented creatively and effectively to international audiences through digital platforms. According to him, the workshop will strengthen industry knowledge, improve connections with global markets, and help tourism stakeholders communicate a unified message through digital media.

Similarly, NTB Spokesperson Sunil Sharma highlighted the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping travel decisions worldwide. He noted that content creators are increasingly playing a key role in inspiring travel and connecting audiences with destinations. Sharma said the collaboration with TikTok aims to strengthen storytelling capabilities among tourism businesses, creators, and travel enthusiasts while nurturing local talent and supporting the growth of Nepal’s digital economy.

Ferdous Mottakin, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations for South Asia at TikTok, said the platform has transformed the way people discover destinations, travel experiences, local cuisines, and cultural traditions. He expressed confidence that the partnership with NTB would help empower local communities, tourism businesses, and creators with digital storytelling skills, enabling them to share Nepal’s extraordinary beauty and rich heritage with audiences around the world.

The workshops feature interactive learning sessions, practical content creation guidance, and discussions with industry professionals, providing participants with valuable insights into creating engaging content and building meaningful connections with audiences through innovative digital storytelling. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Nepal’s tourism promotion efforts and the development of a vibrant community of travel content creators.
