Nepal Records 88,680 Tourist Arrivals in August 2025, a 22% Increase

Kathmandu. Nepal welcomed 88,680 tourists in August 2025, according to the latest statistics released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The figure reflects a 22 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

Of the total arrivals, India topped the list with 35,505 visitors (40%), followed by China with 7,533 (8.5%), the United States with 6,068 (6.8%), Sri Lanka with 5,956 (6.7%), and Bangladesh with 4,262 (4.8%).

Between January and August 2025, Nepal recorded 736,562 tourist arrivals. Regionally, South Asian (SAARC) countries accounted for 47,137 visitors (53%), while other Asian countries contributed 15,777 (17.8%), Europe 11,132 (12.6%), and Oceania 2,435 (2.7%). Similarly, arrivals from the United States stood at 7,293 (8.2%), the Middle East at 944 (1.1%), Africa at 322 (0.4%), and other countries at 3,640 (4.1%). In July 2025, Nepal had welcomed 70,193 tourists.

NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi stated that Nepal’s tourism industry, badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, is gradually recovering. He noted that the addition of Air India Express flights has significantly contributed to the rise in Indian arrivals. “We are optimistic that the coming months will see a continuous increase in tourist arrivals,” he added.
