Nepal, Norway to Further Strengthen Cooperation in Higher Education: Norwegian Ambassador

Karnali. Norwegian Ambassador to Nepal Dagny Mjøs has reaffirmed Norway’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Nepal in the field of higher education.

Speaking at an interaction programme on Open Parliament and Citizen Participation organized by Mid-West University in Surkhet on Thursday, Ambassador Mjøs highlighted the ongoing partnership aimed at promoting inclusive education at the university. She expressed confidence that collaboration between the two nations would continue to grow.
“There has been cooperation in promoting inclusive education at Mid-West University,” she said, emphasizing Norway’s readiness to further support Nepal’s academic and educational initiatives.

The discussion programme was chaired by Prof Dr Dhruba Kumar Gautam, Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University, and attended by Ambassador Mjøs and UNDP Nepal Resident Representative Kyoko Yokosuka.

On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Gautam stated that Nepal–Norway relations are rooted in friendship and mutual cooperation. He noted that such interaction programmes would help strengthen academic collaboration in the Karnali region and deepen ties between the two countries.

He also highlighted that the bilateral partnership has significantly enhanced the university’s capacity in evidence-based teaching, advanced research, and policy advocacy.

Other participants included Prof Dr Shobhakhar Kandel, Registrar of Mid-West University; Dr Yadu Prasad Gyawali, Executive Director of the Directorate of International Relations; and Dr Bishnu Kumar Khadka, Executive Director of the Directorate of Planning, Development, and Monitoring, among others.
