Kathmandu, Nepal: Floods and landslides have caused preliminary estimated damage worth more than Rs 52.67 billion to Nepal’s tourism sector, raising concerns over the recovery of tourism infrastructure and businesses.

The damage has affected tourism-related infrastructure and businesses, including hotels, restaurants, trekking routes, bridges and other facilities. The impact has also raised concerns about local communities and livelihoods that depend on tourism.

A preliminary assessment report on the damage and recovery needs was presented to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. The report highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to restore affected infrastructure and revive tourism activities.

Effective reconstruction, improved access to tourist destinations and support for affected businesses will be crucial to the recovery process.
