Surkhet |The ‘Karnali Tourism Meet 2026’ has successfully concluded in Surkhet with a strong commitment to promote Karnali Province in the international tourism market. The event, held under the slogan “In the Lap of Nature and Culture,” began on May 8, 2083 (BS) and concluded on Sunday, May 10, in Birendranagar, Surkhet.
The event was jointly organized by the Nepal Tourism Board and Birendranagar Municipality, in coordination with the Hotel Entrepreneurs Federation Surkhet. It brought together around 50 tourism entrepreneurs, journalists, and bloggers from various cities of India, highlighting growing regional tourism collaboration between Nepal and India.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Padam Bikram Shahi, Central Member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said Karnali holds immense potential for religious, cultural, and nature-based tourism. He emphasized that the region can be developed as a gateway to Kailash Mansarovar and described Karnali as a land of spiritual and natural significance.
Rajesh Sinha, President of the Travel Trade Welfare Association of India, expressed that his visit to Karnali was unforgettable. He praised the hospitality, culture, and natural beauty of the region and assured support from Indian tourism entrepreneurs in promoting Karnali in the international tourism market.
During the program, participants also visited major religious and historical sites in Dailekh, including Shirsthan and Nabisthan, which hold significant mythological importance. The visitors were impressed by Karnali’s natural landscapes, cultural authenticity, and religious heritage.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the event is expected to strengthen Nepal–India tourism cooperation, attract investment to Karnali, and enhance global visibility of the region’s emerging tourism destinations.
