Second National Culinary Challenge Competition 2026 Begins in Damak

Kathmandu. With the objective of preserving and promoting the originality, diversity, and cultural identity of Nepali cuisine at the international level, the International Nepali Chef Society and Nepali Chef Society have jointly organized the “Second National Culinary Challenge Competition 2026.”

The two-day event began today at Universal College in Damak and will continue through May 16. Organizers stated that the program aims to advance Nepali culinary arts toward professionalism, innovation, and international competitiveness.

According to the organizers, the competition places special emphasis on the exploration, research, preservation, and promotion of authentic and indigenous dishes representing all seven provinces of Nepal. Traditional and endangered cuisines from different geographical regions are being showcased under one platform.

The organizers noted that the event also seeks to inspire the younger generation of chefs toward creativity and innovation while maintaining a balance between modern culinary techniques and traditional flavors.

The program features open cooking competitions, various food contests, and a large food festival with more than 50 stalls offering local and international cuisines.

More than 10 experienced international chefs from different countries are participating as judges. Organizers believe their involvement will provide Nepali chefs with opportunities for world-class evaluation, mentorship, and professional exchange.

Participation in the competition requires teams of three members. Interested teams were required to confirm their participation by depositing the registration fee into the society’s official account.

The prize distribution for the competition includes NPR 100,000 for the first prize winner, NPR 75,000 for the second prize, and NPR 50,000 for the third prize. In addition, all participants will receive medals and certificates, while each team is also being provided with a “Mystery Box.”

Organizers expressed confidence that the event will contribute significantly to the development of the culinary sector, tourism promotion, marketing of local products, employment generation, and preservation of cultural heritage.

Arun Adhikari, Central President of the International Nepali Chef Society, has requested cooperation and support from media organizations and journalists to help promote the event widely among the public.
