Tourism Entrepreneur Bhavishwar Sharma Donates 25 Chairs to Kathmandu District Administration Office

Kathmandu. Tourism entrepreneur and social worker Bhavishwar Sharma has donated 25 chairs to the Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) to help it resume operations after the recent damage caused by the “Genji Movement” protests on September 8 and 9 (Bhadra 23–24). Several government offices, including the DAO, were completely destroyed in the incident.

Following the unrest, the DAO faced severe shortages of furniture and other essential supplies, making it difficult to provide administrative and security-related services. In response, Sharma personally handed over 25 chairs to Chief District Officer (CDO) Ishwori Prasad Paudel on Sunday evening.
Sharma, who is also the immediate past president of the Thamel Tourism Development Council, said that his contribution aimed to provide some relief in this challenging situation. “It is a small effort to support our government institutions in times of crisis,” he said, expressing gratitude to fellow tourism entrepreneurs who joined hands in the initiative.

Currently, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu has been operating from the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control’s building in Babarmahal, providing essential public and security services.

Sharma has been actively involved in various social initiatives in the past as well. During the 2015 earthquake, he led the reconstruction of Thamel’s Dhungedhara (stone spout), and during the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided masks, sanitizers, and vaccines to tourism workers and staff.

Under Sharma’s leadership, the Thamel Tourism Development Council also made notable improvements in the area, including the installation of CCTV cameras, electrical wiring management, and the introduction of a Thamel Master Plan to enhance the region’s safety and appeal.
