6th National Karate Championship to Be Held on September 26

Kathmandu. The 6th National Karate Championship 2026 is set to be held on Ashoj 10, 2083 (September 26, 2026) at Anandakuti Bidyapeeth Secondary School, Kathmandu. The championship is being organized by the Nepal Muniz Shiroi Shishi-Ryu Karate Association.

According to the organizers, around 30 teams from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the championship. The event aims to identify and promote young karate talent, contribute to the development of karate in Nepal, and provide players with opportunities to compete at the national level.

Binod Shrestha, coach and General Secretary of the Nepal Muniz Shiroi Shishi-Ryu Karate Association, said the championship would contribute to the development of karate in Nepal.

“Interest in karate is increasing among the younger generation. We expect around 30 teams to participate in this championship. Our objective is to provide players from different age groups with a competitive platform and help showcase their skills and talent at the national level,” Shrestha said.

He added that the championship would allow participating players to demonstrate their skills in a competitive environment. Regular competitions, he said, can help boost players’ confidence and prepare them for future national and international competitions.

Similarly, Santosh Dahal, Vice President of the Nepal Muniz Shiroi Shishi-Ryu Karate Association and Coordinator of the championship, said preparations were underway to make the event well-organized and competitive.

“We are making the necessary preparations to provide players and teams coming from different parts of the country with a good environment for competition. We believe the championship will play an important role in identifying sporting talent and contributing to the institutional development of karate,” Dahal said.

Dahal also emphasized the need for cooperation from players, coaches, referees and other stakeholders to make the championship successful. He said the organizers aim to make the event broader and more competitive in the coming years.
