Nepal Showcases Readiness to Welcome Tourists at Asian Tourism Fair in Bangladesh

Dhaka . At the 12th Asian Tourism Fair held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) highlighted that Nepal is fully prepared to welcome international tourists and invited Bangladeshi travelers to visit the Himalayan nation. The event was held from September 18 to 20 at the International Convention City Bashundhara.

This marked the first major participation of Nepal’s tourism industry in an international expo following the recent Gen-Z movement in Nepal. The presence of Nepali companies at the fair conveyed a strong message that Nepal has returned to normalcy and is ready to host tourists safely.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, addressed the inaugural session, noting that Nepal’s tourism sector has shown resilience and capacity for rapid recovery despite challenges. He also stressed the importance of strengthening Nepal-Bangladesh tourism cooperation and people-to-people ties.

The Nepal pavilion drew significant attention from visitors, where Nepali companies promoted their packages, renewed business ties, and explored new opportunities. Many Bangladeshi visitors, curious about Nepal’s situation after the recent political unrest, expressed satisfaction that the country has quickly returned to stability. They compared Nepal’s situation with Bangladesh’s own political experiences, stating that their travel plans to Nepal remain unaffected.
Bangladesh is emerging as one of Nepal’s fastest-growing tourism markets. In 2024, Nepal welcomed around 49,000 Bangladeshi tourists, and in the first eight months of 2025, arrivals grew by nearly 32%, according to NTB statistics. Geographic proximity, cultural similarities, and Bangladesh’s growing economic strength make it an increasingly important source market for Nepal.

This year’s fair featured 150 organizations from eight different countries, showcasing tourism-related services and packages through 180 stalls. Alongside NTB, ten Nepali companies participated, including Himalayan Club Tours & Travel, Nepal Big Mountain Travel, The Trek Nepal, Go Nepal Travel Tours & Trekking, Snowy Horizon Treks & Expedition, Classical Adventure Nepal, Himalgiri Travel & Tours, Female Guide Kathmandu, Kathmandu Sweet Home, and Regulus Treks & Expedition.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board, this participation in Dhaka reaffirmed Nepal’s status as a safe and hospitable destination and is expected to further strengthen tourism relations between Nepal and Bangladesh.
